Our Story

A little history on Chris and Meghan: Chris has been around horses since he was a little boy of 4 years old. He grew up in Blue Ridge, GA just over the mountains in a little valley affectionately known as Cashes Valley. Chris’s family owns most of the valley now but in the late 1800’s when his kin folks moved down from the Carolinas they owned 1200+ acres. Chris comes from a large family of Callihan’s. Family gatherings are a whirl wind of activities but so much fun.

I grew up loving horses thanks to my Aunt Sandra. My Aunt was well known in Chatsworth of being someone who loved her horses and would talk to anyone about horses for as long as you would listen. Sandra never could get her son to love horses so when I showed the slightest interest, she quickly introduced me to a wonderful world of equine love. I got out of the horse business for many years while growing up, but after college decided I’d get back into riding. I had a few horses of my own but none to take trail riding…thus the story about how we met.

Chris and I met right here at Fort Mountain Stables in September 2004. He was running the business for his cousin and I wanted to trail ride. Chris made the adventure exciting and fun. You will find if you want to talk, Chris will entertain you with many stories and adventures. A few weeks later Chris and I started dating…were married…and have a beautiful baby girl, Callie Elizabeth born April 16, 2007.

Chris and I purchased Fort Mountain Stables this year, thus bringing us full circle in our lives. We look forward to many years of sharing our love of horses, people and the outdoors with you, your families and friends.
